Sunday 2/18/18 -San Diego we spent most the day exploring Balboa Park which was built in 1915 to celebrate the opening of the Panama Canal and promote the city of San Diego for trade. Ultimately the Worlds fair was held at the park in 1915. Although many of the structures were built to last a year, the park is still in place. In more recent years a number of the buildings were either remodeled or entirely rebuilt. The center of the park is located on 700 acres with the total park encompassing 1,400 acres.
Wendy ran across the Queen at the park and may have gotten an invite to the big wedding!
We also stopped at Hotel Coronado for the sunset and drinks. This is a very special place; built in 1887 and is an all wood structure. The hotel sits on the bay with fantastic views.
And apparently we wore poor 0ld Burt out today!
