Thursday 2/15/18 - Today was a travel day. We arrived in California low on gas and had the privilege of paying $4.25 for a gal. of diesel. WOW! But it beats running out of gas. Moral of the story, gas up in Arizona where it is $2.79 or so a gal.

We traveled through the YUMA & Baja Cal. deserts with sand dunes (Imperial Sun Dunes) likely a 300+ feet high. And no off roading this time. Plenty of dune buggies and 4 wheelers were around.

After making it through the AZ-Cal desert, we crossed the most unusual mountain range with boulders  some the size of buildings all stacked on each other. Look closely to see if you see anything a bit unusual in the rocks.

Finally, before arriving at our destination for the night we came across Desert View Tower built in the 20's by the same crew who built the original road through the mountain pass. We met a very "Free Spirit" kind of guy who had a nic-nac shop in the base of the tower. Wendy did manage to find a Royal Doulton china figurine lady named "Top of the Hill". Appropriately named given the Tower was near the top of the mountain.
