4/17/18 Travel day from Navajo Monument UT (7,000 ft elevation) to Lake Powell, AZ (elevation 3,000 ft) and the temperature responded accordingly- rising from the 40's to the 60's & 70's during the day.
Road trip views along the way.

After arriving in Page, Utah, we spent a couple of hours in Walmart restocking food, beer and wine (first major grocery store we have seen in a while). The Glen Canyon hydrodam 710 ft tall is just up the road from Page which was constructed to create Lake Powell. The damming of the Colorado created a lake 186 miles long holding 9 trillion gallons of water representing a 10 year supply of water for San Diego, LA, Arizona and New Mexico in drought conditions. At the dam the water is 650 feet deep. A bridge was constructed with the building of the dam which in itself is quite impressive.

View from the dam back towards the lake.

We are staying at the Wahweap National Park right on Lake Powell and in the Glen Canyon area. The location is just outside of the town of Page, UT.  It is a beautiful location right on the lake with a campground with all the amenities, a lodge with a restaurant, marina, boat tours and house boat rentals and it own fire and gas station. The contrast of the very blue water and the red and gray sandstone is beautiful.
                                                         Views from our campsite.

So as you would expect after getting situated in our new spot we headed out to explore. We ended up going to Horseshoe Bend just outside of town. It's where the Colorado River takes a big turn. Everyone and his uncle had the same idea,  but it is a huge area.  The view as you can see from the pictures is amazing.
