4/23/18 Grand Canyon - Early morning start to the morning with a 6:45 check-in time for the mule ride to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The  trip is an overnight trip to Phantom Ranch on the bottom of the canyon taking the Bright Angel trail down and the South Kaibab trail back up the next day arriving at the rim around noon. Total trip is 17 miles and a  5,000 elevation change.

The guy with the cowboy hat provided all the do's and don'ts for the trail ride. He did a good job of putting everyone at ease with the trip given that a good part of the trail has some sheer drop-offs.

                                                     Looking good, like experienced riders

Heading down the Bright Angel Trail

Sammy's mule didn't want to come out of the coral and needed some coaxing
Heading for the first hair pin turn and a 100 ft drop-off

                                                        Sammy waving goodbye
Looking down from the rim trail the tree line in green is the trail roughly 3/4 way down. These pictures are about 4 miles away
The green is the Colorado River and is down river of the Phantom Ranch overnight stay
                                                         Our day with Lucy!!

Wendy and I hit the rim trail and watched a movie at the Visitors Center which was quite good.
