4/9/18 Canyon de Chelly, AZ - We arrived  in the afternoon and while waiting for Mark & Janet Gardner to arrive, we took a hike on the White House Trail. A mere 2.5 mile hike with a 600 ft elevation change. Very cool trail with two tunnels, arches and cliff dwelling ruins at the bottom of the canyon. Canyon de Chelly is referred to as the mini Grand Canyon. What makes this place unique is that it is in the middle of the Navajo Reservation and the bottom of the canyon is farmed by the Indians with several homes in located in the canyon.

Arch on the trail down
Most of the trail was narrow sandstone that was ribbed from water and wind erosion.
The second tunnel was quite long, about 50 ft.
No idea why this wood pole was here but we left it in place just in case

Views from the bottom of the canyon
