3/4/18 Sunday - last day in Monterey Ca. We again traveled the Big Sur coast with the first stop in Monterey at the Point Pintos Lighthouse constructed in 1855. Interesting this lighthouse was constructed from a kit, one of eight shipped to California from Baltimore in 1852. The Baltimore ship that transported the lighthouse kit was named the Oriole. The Oriole carried the windows, doors, floors and 14 craftsmen. The voyage took 5 months taking the ship around Cape Horn to San Francisco.  During WWII the lighthouse went dark as to not give our enemy navigation guidance. Also the military takes over the property building barracks, etc. At the end of the war the property was converted back to it original purpose and the lighthouse is still used today. It is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the West Coast.

Gas fired water heater from the 20's

Next we stopped at Point Lobos State Park which is on the ocean. The park featured a Whaler's cabin which included some neat artifacts and great ocean sites. We watch Otters fishing in the ocean lagoon.

Below are Abalone shells, a sea snail. These things are huge!

More sights and seals along the coast.

Creek waterfall flowing to the Ocean.

Wendy & I said goodbye to the coast with a cocktail hour at Rocky Point restaurant tucked on a cliff above the ocean. Beautiful location!
