3/10- 3/11/18 Saturday -Sunday We spent our time exploring Russian Gulch area which is near Ft. Bragg, Ca. The fort no longer exists and is not to be confused with Ft Bragg, NC. The Fort was establish in 1857 to oversee the Mendocino Indian Tribe and was destroyed in the 1906 California earthquake. The coast line here while not has impressive as the Bug Sur coast, it is still beautiful.
Nice 1mile hike to Point Cabrillo Lighthouse, constructed 1908.
Wendy has been so taken back by our trip we tied the knot again!
Town of Mendocino - quaint town with an adjacent coastal state park.
Mason Lodge right in town. The most interesting feature is on the cupola.
The statue on top, Time and the Maiden, was carved from one piece of redwood. The building was constructed in 1878.
Ocean vistas ........
Very large sink hole in Russian Gulch State park, about 200 ft from the ocean, collapsed into the cave below.
Spring is here
In and out of fog on Saturday. Clear on Sunday for most of the day.
Tidal pool hunting. Green sea anemone.
Cool boardwalk along the coast.
Our camping spot at Pomo RV Park. One of the best sites that we have had so far. Sooo much better then the parking lot RV park we stayed in the San Francisco area.
Nice pictures!! Beautiful coastline. Have you gone swimming yet... You need to swim in the Pacific Ocean :-)
